So we have it at last!!!
No, not the album... just a possible release date for it.
You may have noticed things have been very quiet on this site for quite
some time. This has a little to do with the fact that I simply got bored
of waiting for any real news from the Numan camp and didn't want to simply
put rumours on here. After all, we all know that I would never put anything
on here that wasn't 100% true and accurate don't we?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN "NO"?!?!?
Anyhow, apparently, the "new" album is gonna be called
"Pure".
In my humble opinion, this is the worst title for an album he has ever
had. Some of the tracks have weird titles as well. The official Numanarchy
title will be "Pyourrr!!!", as in "Who dropped that one?".
The album has eleven tracks listed and is said to be about 55 minutes
long. Gary says it is by far the longest album he has ever done. Come
to think of it, he's probably right, three years IS a long time! Or does
he mean in playing time do you think? Well, wasn't "Dance" almost an hour
long? Oh well, who cares as long as we get more than the standard nine
song/43 minutes. We've waited long enough.
I am reserving judgement on any of the new stuff until I have heard it
properly. Some people will already have made up their minds that this
is his best ever album in true sycophantic style, not so on this site.
Other stuff around at the moment includes a fair sized
article in SELECT magazine where Gary meets "Feeder". One great thing
at the end of the meeting is where Gary is about to drive away in his
TVR and, in a moment of complete lunacy, offers him advice on how to keep
his career going (!).
He says something like "think of it as a river. Many changes in direction
and you can keep going for years..."
That isn't word for word by the way.
I think of it like this :-
A river starts off high up but then it's down-hill all the way. It goes
through many many changes in direction on its journey and the older it
gets, the slower it gets until, one day it reaches the ocean where it
merges with so much other water that it fades into non-existence...
